A portfolio is meant to showcase your professional abilities and evidence of your work with learners. Items that belong in it demonstrate credentials, performance, and impact in real setting contexts. Certificates earned verify training you’ve completed, providing proof of qualifications. Letters of recommendation offer external validation of your strengths and effectiveness. Reports or samples of work show tangible outcomes, lesson planning, assessments, and how you apply your skills in the classroom. Pictures of your vacation, however, don’t demonstrate professional skills or growth and can distract from the portfolio’s purpose. They don’t provide evidence of your competence with children or your readiness to teach, whereas the other items do.
